El Horizonte Farm

Harold Andrade, a fourth-generation coffee grower, has spent his life immersed in the world of Colombian coffee cultivation and specialty coffee production. For Harold, coffee is an endless universe of discovery. His deep respect for sustainable farming and natural resource conservation is reflected in every corner of El Horizonte Farm, which is being transformed into a thriving coffee agroecosystem and recognized as a valuable natural reserve.

At El Horizonte, all byproducts of coffee production—such as husks from pulping are repurposed through vermiculture to create organic nutrients. These enrich the farm’s soils, ensuring sustainable coffee production that benefits both present and future generations.

The farm is home to cedars, guamas, guayacanes, and walnut trees, providing shade for the coffee plantations, creating habitats for birds and wildlife, protecting the soil, and preserving water sources. Each cultivated hectare includes about 70 shade trees, while protective forest areas have been expanded to reinforce Harold’s commitment to sustainability.

Processing Method

Ancestral Coffee

The harvested coffee undergoes a careful selection and processing method to ensure the highest quality specialty coffee.

  1. Floatation process: Coffee cherries are floated to remove low-density beans and impurities.

  2. Fermentation: Ripe cherries are fermented under shade for 15 days, then peeled and fermented for an additional 10 days, totaling 600 hours of precise fermentation.

  3. Washing and drying: After fermentation, the beans are gently washed and sun-dried on parabolic drying beds for 15 days, producing Ancestral Coffee, a unique expression of Colombian flavor.

Through this meticulous process, Harold Andrade and El Horizonte Farm deliver premium Colombian coffee that reflects care, tradition, and sustainability—from the farm to your cup.
