Quality guarantee
At La Reserva 22 Colombian Coffee, quality is not a checkpoint at the end of the process, it is built into every decision from the moment green coffee is selected in Colombia to the moment it is roasted and dispatched from our facility in Guelph, Ontario.
Every coffee we offer meets or exceeds an 84+ score on the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) 100-point scale, the internationally recognized standard that distinguishes specialty coffee from commercial grade.
This is our baseline, not our ceiling.

WHAT OUR QUALITY STANDARD MEANS IN PRACTICE
The SCA scoring system evaluates coffee across ten sensory categories fragrance, aroma, flavour, aftertaste, acidity, body, balance, uniformity, clean cup, and sweetness. A score of 84+ requires excellence across all of them. There are no shortcuts and no partial credit.
At La Reserva 22, every coffee in our catalogue is sourced and selected to meet this standard before it enters our roasting process. We do not offer commercial-grade coffee under a specialty label. What is described as specialty on our shelves meets the full definition of the term.

Our Quality Control Process, From Green Coffee to Your Cup
La Reserva 22 operates under a traceability model that covers each stage of production: from harvest and post-harvest processing in Colombia, through importation of green coffee to Canada, through roasting and final selection at our Guelph roastery.
Before roasting, our green coffee undergoes a final selection process that includes the removal of Quaker beans — underdeveloped beans that survive processing but compromise cup quality. This step is standard in professional specialty roasting and non-negotiable in ours.
Our coffees are roasted in small batches in Canada, with each roast profile developed specifically for the origin, variety, and process of that coffee. This ensures that the flavour potential shaped by Colombia’s high-altitude growing conditions is preserved and expressed, not flattened by a generic roast curve.

Jointly with SCA guidelines and our in-house quality policies, we guarantee excellence at every stage of production. La Reserva 22 Colombian Coffee presents authentic flavours at their fullest expression, roasted to enhance the best features of each origin, each harvest, and each process. Coffees subject to limited seasonal availability — including Ancestral Coffee, La Reserva Espresso, and Exotic Geisha — may present slight variations in flavour profile depending on harvest season and environmental growing conditions. This is not inconsistency. It is the honest expression of real, traceable, seasonal specialty coffee.
